The Challenge:
The Cochrane Park Sports Complex, a high-traffic facility, housed eight showers installed in 2002. After years of heavy use, their efficiency declined. The university conducted an evaluation and identified the need for an upgrade. The Solution:
After extensive research, Newcastle University invited Cistermiser to explore suitable options. The Vecta+ mechanical push-button activated slimline shower panel (MSPV) stood out as the ideal choice. This model includes a sustainable 8 lpm flow rate regulator, reducing water usage without compromising performance. With a preset flow duration of approximately 30 seconds, it minimizes water waste while lowering energy consumption required for heating.

In August 2022, Newcastle University proceeded with the installation. A qualified plumbing engineer fitted eight Vecta+ MSPV showers in the changing facilities at Cochrane Park Sports Complex. The process was seamless—two plumbers completed the full removal, installation, and commissioning in just two days.

Following the upgrade, the university anticipated full payback within four months. Over the first year, estimated water savings exceeded 2.3 million liters, reducing utility costs by over £5,500.
